Cyclo-Cross
Size/Setup

A good place to start when determining what size of Cyclo-Cross frame you need is with the measurement of your road bike. Assuming it fits well the process is made simple by lowering the measurement by a centimeter or two and shortening it by a centimeter.

By keeping it simple you can use the same stem length and have the same amount of seatpost showing as in your roadbike. You will want to lower the seat position, but raise the handlebar position to achieve a more upright riding position.

Cyclo-Cross calls for smaller frames to make the bike more nimble when you're mounting and dismounting. This makes a big difference when you have to lift the bike and carry it.

A few points to keep in mind when setting up your Cyclo-Cross bike. Raise the brake levers slightly and position the seat back so your weight will bear down on the back wheel for better traction when riding in the mud.

In addition to the obvious brake, gear and tire changes you should also use longer cranks for better leverage. An additional 2.5mm increase will make a noticeable difference.
